Givenchy Designer Profile

The Evolution of Givenchy

Born in 1927, Hubert de Givenchy was a member of an elite group of fashion designers beginning to make their mark on the world in the early 20th century. At the tender age of 17, Givenchy left his home in Beauvais to go to Paris and pursue a career in fashion design. While working with high profile fashion designers of the time (Jacques Fath and Robert Piguet), Givenchy gained the knowledge he needed to make it in the industry.

As years passed, Givenchy continued working with some of the most talented designers in the industry. In 1956, Givenchy teamed up with Cristobal Balenciaga and the two presented their collections together on the runway. Since then, Givenchy has released a number of highly successful lines that have received rave reviews among consumers and professionals in the industry.

Givenchy is currently a division of LVMH (Moet Hennessey – Louis Vuitton). LVMH has created a diversified portfolio of many prestigious brands such as Celine, Emilio Pucci, Christian Dior and DKNY.
