Acne Skin Care

Finding the products that work

For some of us, we can leave acne behind with our awkward teenage years, but unfortunately, almost half of all adults experience adult acne. With so many acne products on the market it can be overwhelming trying to choose the right acne treatment.

Tips For an Effective Skin Care Routine

Adult acne skin care should include three basic steps. First, cleanse your skin with a mild, water-soluble cleanser. Second, use a benzoyl peroxide solution on your skin in a concentration of between 2.5 and 10 percent. Benzoyl peroxide has been around forever and is a very effective over-the-counter acne remedy. It works by getting inside the hair follicle and killing the bacteria that are causing the acne. Third, apply a good moisturizer to your skin to keep it hydrated and to avoid flaking caused by dryness.

In addition, treat yourself kindly. Get adequate rest, eat well, avoid touching your face throughout the day and washing your face too much. Don't pick at those nasty pimples either. It will only further irritate your skin.

If you’re looking to find acne skin care products, shopping online can be a great way to find solutions for cheaper prices than you may find in department stores. However, you may want to consult a doctor or skin care specialist for recommendations on products before you buy.

Makeup Tips for the Acne-Prone

Cosmetics can be problematic for those with adult acne. Look for oil-free foundations, products with noncomedogenic ingredients and, when possible, give your skin a break and leave the house with just a moisturizer containing an SPF.

You might also want to consider blotting papers. They are wonderful for absorbing oil while leaving your makeup in place.
