Anti Aging Skin Care

It’s never too soon (or too late!) to protect your skin from aging

It's true, your skin is going to age. There's no getting around it but there are things you can do to slow the process down.

In Hollywood, as elsewhere, aggressive anti aging therapies include Botox, chemical peels, injectable fillers like Restylane and Juvederm, laser treatments, microdermabrasion and anti aging skin creams called retinoids.

But the best defense against Father Time (oh yes, we know he’s a man!) are undoubtedly prescription-only drugs containing tretinoin, the acid form of Vitamin A. Tretinoin is effective in improving skin cell production, particularly in sun-damaged skin. Who among us hasn't wished they could take away the damage caused by baking in baby oil clad only in skimpy swimwear? Popular tretinoin drugs include Retin-A, Renova, Retin-A Micro and Avita.

You might also look for anti aging skin care products containing antioxidants that may reduce UVA damage and slow collagen breakdown, such as Vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, lipoic acid, tea polyphends and soy isoflavones. These products are available without prescription and can be found in most drugstores or online.

Starting Your Anti Aging Skin Care Routine

There’s no time like the present to begin a skincare routine to diminish or prevent wrinkles. Your skin care routine can be simple, including a daily moisturizer or sunscreen with full spectrum UV protection, eating well and taking your vitamins (especially Vitamin C and Vitamin E).

But if you want to fight harder against time, include retinoid anti aging skin creams, which are available without a prescription or add a tretinoin anti aging skin care product to your repertoire.

Remember, you’re only as old as you feel, but healthy, youthful skin can is a great way to keep yourself feeling young. Like the best fashion accessories, flawless skin never goes out of style!
